Member National Assembly (MNA) belonging to MQM-P, Waseem Hussain, announced joining Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), here on Sunday. "PSP is the party that has representation of people from all over the country. MQM-P leaders are squabbling to occupy the party instead of working for the betterment of people and the country," he said, announcing to part ways with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) at a press conference at the PSP's central office 'Pakistan House,' where the party president Anis Qaimkhani welcomed him. Waseem was elected to the National Assembly from Hyderabad NA-220 constituency in the Elections 2013.
He vowed to work for rights of Muhajir Community. He said people of Hyderabad would decide whether his decision of joining PSP was right or wrong. The MQM-P continues to suffer from desertion by their prominent figures and legislators as a number of the defectors switched to PSP. Recently, MQM-P MNA Dr Fauzia Hameed announced to join PSP at a press conference. Similarly, on Wednesday last, two women MPAs Naheed Begum and Naila Munir, told the media about leaving MQM-P for PSP.
Welcoming Waseem, PSP president Anis Qaimkhani said a tug of war over the party leadership was going on within the MQM. He accused Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar of having failed to address the issues that disturb Karachiites. He also criticised Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi saying Abbasi was engaged in defending PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif instead of serving the nation. He demanded an end to power outages in the city. He said there must be no declared or undeclared load-shedding. He also turned down the census results and subsequent delimitation of constituencies in Karachi.
