Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) president Tariq Malik has sharply reacted over announcement by K- Electric's spokesman of load shedding in Industrial areas of Karachi due to shortage of gas supply.
Tariq Malik urged Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to take note of the grave situation.
He said reduction in gas supply to K-Electric would cause problems for industries. Any interruptions to power supply will affect our revenue generation potential being.
In the past years the industries have been exempted from load shedding which has been a welcome policy enabling us to meet production and export targets. A sudden change to this regime will set us back tremendously.
He urged the all relevant authorities and departments to ensure required gas supply to K-Electric to resume generation at the level that the supply company could maintain the load shedding exemption for industrial area.
Another industrialist, Atta Muhammad hopes the Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh will react urgently to save the industry.
He said at the time when fiscal year is closing and the exporters have to fulfil their shipment commitments, we can not afford to have a slow down for any reason.
We are sure to lose our hard earned markets and once this is done, our markets will be lost to competitor countries.
He said K-electric has informed that it has decided to carry load shedding in industrial areas which will certainly have serious negative impact on industrial production.
