The 8th Mini Olympics, sports tournament kicked off at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan campus. More than sixteen teams of different departments of the university will participate in the sports event. The sports event was formally inaugurated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Education Atif Khan. Project Director, UET Dr Imran and academic staff were also present at this occasion.
Atif Khan while speaking on the occasion that education institutions and university should be established for education purpose nor for business and employment.
He added that provincial government has upgraded the Engineering University Mardan campus in to full plague university and in this connection a bill was also passed from the provincial assembly.
The Minister that after Peshawar engineering university this university will be the second full-plague University of the province. He added that provincial government will allocate more than 4 billion rupees in the upcoming provincial budget for UETM. He added that it is need of time that we should establish universes however merit and quality should be also insure in the universities.
Atif Khan added that in previous government 7,000 teachers were recruited without merit in the education sector however we appoint 57,000 teachers on merit in the last five years. He added that every year 15,000 youth reached to the 18 years.
