--NUST has established Pakistan's 1st university-based Technology Incubation Centre with 34 high-tech companies graduated contributing more than USD 6 Million to GDP and generating employment for over 800 knowledge workers.
--Quality of academics and research at NUST is greatly enhanced through international academic linkages with more than 135 institutes in 32 countries.
--Research areas in line with current and impending national needs, including Alternate Energy, Water Resource Management, Robotics, Automation, and many more. NUST has completed more than 500 R&D projects in the last 10 years, and over 250 are currently in progress. Industry-specific R&D at NUST adds value to local industry.
--NUST provides protection to the work of its researchers and innovators through its Intellectual Property management; it has filed as many as 142 patents to date, out of which 36 have been granted.
--Pakistan's first National Centre of Artificial Intelligence has been established at NUST - this is the first of 4 National Centres to be set up by the Government of Pakistan under Vision 2025. NCAI will focus on R&D and human resource development in the specialised field of Artificial Intelligence.
--A breakthrough in the medical devices industry of Pakistan, the Medical Devices Development Centre was established at NUST in 2017. This is Pakistan's first university facility for production of cardiac stents and angioplasty balloon catheters, which will make these devices available for the general public at a fraction of the cost of imported devices.
--National Science & Technology Park (NSTP) is a trail-blazing initiative of NUST. With most of its building blocks firmly in place, like the Technology Incubation Centre, Manufacturing Resource Centre, Intellectual Property Office, Corporate Advisory Council, etc., the NSTP will bring together Government, industry, society and academia under the quadruple helix model towards a knowledge economy.
--With its strong emphasis on community service and community engagement, NUST shapes morally conscientious and socially responsible citizens. A Community Service Learning (CSL) course and internship are mandatory for all undergraduate students at NUST. The university also houses the Secretariat of Pakistan Chapter of The Talloires Network (PCTN), with as many as 70 national universities on board, collectively pursuing community service and civic engagement as part of their mandates.
