Army opens 'Women PCO' in South Waziristan

For the very first time in history of FATA, the Pak Army has opened women Public Call Office (PCO) in Makeen area of South Waziristan Agency. Security sources told that a woman telephone operator would be appointed to work in women PCO. He said women PCO would also be opened in Kani Guram, Saam and Ladha areas of the agency.
It was said that facility would help women to contact their relatives abroad without any difficulty and abiding by their traditions. He said that mobile service cannot be made functional in these areas due to their proximity with Afghan border and security reasons adding if conditions improved steps would be taken to start mobile service in these remote areas.
Makeen is the ancestral village of Naqeeb Ullah Mehsud that was killed in Karachi.
