Prices of essential kitchen items remained stable during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by the Business Recorder revealed, here on Saturday. The survey observed that potatoes price further reduced from Rs 120 to Rs 90 per 5kg in the wholesale market which were being sold at Rs 20 against Rs 30 per kg in the retail market. Price of tomatoes remained stable at Rs 100 to per 5kg which were available at Rs 30-35 per kg in the retail market. Price of onions also witnessed no change and were available at Rs 130 per 5kg in the wholesale market, while they were being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg in the retail market.
Local garlic price remained stable at Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg, while ginger price reduced from Rs 600 to Rs 550 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 145 per kg against Rs 150 per kg. Local lemon price went down from Rs 950 to Rs 800 per 5kg and Chinese lemon from Rs 600 to Rs 550 per 5kg but in retail market no change was observed in lemon price which was being sold at Rs 130-140 per kg.
The survey observed that the price of live chicken went slightly down from Rs 5,600 to Rs 5,500 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 175 per kg, while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 300 per kg. The eggs prices in wholesale market remained stable at Rs 88 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 100 per dozen. Mutton and beef prices increased from Rs 750 per kg to Rs 850 per kg and from Rs 400 per kg to Rs 450 per kg respectively.
Spinach price further went down slightly from Rs 70 to Rs 60 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 15 per bundle against Rs 20 per bundle and price of mint remained stable at Rs 150 per bundle in wholesales market while in retail market a small bundle of 1/4 kg mint was being sold at Rs 20 per bundle.
Capsicum price further went down from Rs 330 to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 70 against Rs 75 per kg; peas price remained unchanged at Rs 150 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail market were being sold Rs 40 per kg; taro's (arvi) price witnessed no change which was being sold at Rs 250 per 5kg while in retail market at Rs 60 per kg; carrot price came down from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg; and price of a pack of 8kg radish further went up from Rs 100 to Rs 150 per pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 15 per kg.
Bean price further went down from Rs 275 to Rs 230 per 5kg which in retail were being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 65 per kg, okra price went down from Rs 550 to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, and price of ridge gourd (tori) went up from Rs 300 to Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 110 per kg against Rs 75 per kg. Turnip price went up from Rs 100 to Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 30 per kg, and Maroo kadu price further went down from Rs 250 to Rs 170 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 70 per kg. Cauliflower price further went up from Rs 120 to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35-40 against Rs 30 per kg and cabbage price remained stable at Rs 130 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold Rs 35 per kg.
Brinjal price further went down from Rs 250 to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, and cucumber price went down from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per 5kg, which in retail market was still being sold at Rs 35 per kg.
Price of apple gourd (tinda) remained stable at Rs 120 per 5kg, while in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg; bitter gourd (karela) price remained stable at Rs 650 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg, and green chillies price went down from Rs 500 to Rs 300 per kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 130 per kg.
No significant changes were seen in the prices of milk and non-perishable food items. Best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat-flour at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses remained stable as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentils (Masoor) at Rs 110 per kg.
Fruits prices during this weekend remained on high slide as good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 120 per dozen, normal quality in the range of Rs 60-80 per dozen and Indian banana at Rs 200 per dozen. Guava price went up from Rs 80 to Rs 100 per kg and normal quality guava was being sold in the range of Rs 60-70 per kg, local pomegranate price was Rs 200 per kg, while Kandhari pomegranate was available at Rs 300 per kg. Various qualities of orange were available in the range Rs 100-260 per dozen with normal Kino being sold at Rs 100 per dozen and red blood at Rs 260 per dozen.
Best quality strawberry which cost Rs 150 per kg in wholesales market was being sold at Rs 300 per kg in retail market and normal strawberry cost was available at Rs 100 per kg in wholesales market but it was being sold at Rs 200 per kg in retail market, and Chinese pear price remained Rs 165 per kg. Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 110 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kalu apple price went up from Rs 150 to Rs 170 per kg, while Iranian price increased from Rs 160 to 180 per kg, golden apple price increased from Rs 110 to Rs 150 per kg, ambari apple from Rs 90 to Rs 1120 per kg, while Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-250 per kg. New arrival melon was being sold at Rs 450 per 10kg in wholesales market which in retail was being sold at Rs 75 per kg.
