Sherry Rehman's nomination: Swati accuses PPP of submitting list carrying fake signatures
Nominee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the slot of opposition leader in Senate, Azam Swati on Saturday accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of submitting a list with fake signatures of senators for Sherry Rehman's nomination as opposition leader in the upper House of the Parliament.
Speaking at presser along with PTI central information secretary Fawwad Chaudhry, Swati said the list submitted by PPP which contains fake signatures of opposition senators is "Calibri Font part-II" but this time attempted by the PPP in a bit to clinch the coveted slot.
"This Calibri Font part-II has been submitted by the PPP with the Senate Secretariat with a claim that it has support of 33 senators. Out of 33 senators, one of the FATA senators has already joined PTI," he claimed.
He said chairman Senate from Balochistan for the first time in history of the country became possible due to PTI, which was acknowledged by the newly elected chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani.
He claimed that opposition leader will be from PTI as it's the only party which played a pivotal role in barring the ruling PML-N from taking control of the Senate despite being the majority party in the upper House of the Parliament.
Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that PPP, the major opposition party in National Assembly, has approached the PTI for consultation about the caretaker setup, which will be installed as the incumbent government is set to complete its term in two months.
He said Sheikh Rashid will be nominated by the party for the slot of caretaker prime minister, adding the party will put forward its names for the caretaker chief ministers who will be appointed by the government in consultation with opposition parties.
Chaudhry further said Shahbaz Sharif has spent Rs 900 billion in Punjab, but education and healthcare are still in an abysmal state. He also added the developmental projects in Punjab are only seen in newspapers, adding if the funds had been spent on citizens, it would have been a different story.
"The arrest of Ahad Cheema in Ashiyana Housing Scheme scandal is a new story in the corruption tale," Chaudhry said. "Millions of rupees have been spent on Danish Schools. The Yellow Cab scheme has also been shut down. Billions of rupees were wasted on the laptop scheme. And none of the aforementioned scandals have ever been investigated properly," he added.
The PTI leader said cases against Nawaz Sharif are going towards logical end and Sharifs have admitted their London properties. "What does NAB need to prove now?" he further asked. "All that needs to happen is that the charges need to be framed. Nawaz has hidden his sons in London and put his daughter on the forefront of his politics," he said.
