Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 86,611 tonnes of cargo comprising 54,119 tonnes of import cargo and 32,492 tonnes of export cargo including 1,878 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 54,119 tonnes comprised of 12,608 tonnes of containerised cargo and 41,511 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,492 tonnes comprised of 15,545 tonnes of bulk cargo; 400 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 7,424 tonnes of DAP; 6,423 tonnes of wheat and 2,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 1,878 containers comprising of 934 containers import and 944 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 261 of 20's and 274 of 40's loaded while 25 of 20's and 50 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 372 of 20's and 273 of 40's loaded containers while 02 of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were two ships namely UAFL Zanzibar and CTG Cobalt carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Positano, MT Lahore, Selin-D, Silver Etrema and Sea Lion carrying containers, oil tankers amf wheat respectively currently at the berths.

A cargo volume of 131,417 tonnes comprising 113,918 tonnes of import cargo and 17,499 tonnes of export cargo including 3,721 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 113,918 tonnes includes 10,200 tonnes of LNG; 39,168 tonnes of coal; 10,807 tonnes of chemical; 543 tonnes of general cargo and 53,200 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,499 tonnes includes 17,499 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,721 containers comprising of 2,800 containers import and 921 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely CV Maersk Denver and MV Christina-L carrying containers and bulk cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday. A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Denver, CV MSC Tomoko, MV Agri Princess, MV Christina-L, MV Thor Maxmimum, MV Dreggen, MT Macoma and MT African Macaw were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely MV Soho Trader, MV Baltic Panther, MV TVS Beach Wood, MV Serene Juniper, MV Nikolas-II, MV Parnsos, MV Sea Meray, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Jo Pinari, MT Red Eagle and MT Totono Bottiglieri carrying talcum powder, coal, rice, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qaasim during the last 24 hours There were two vessels viz. MV Sea Meray and MV Baltic Panther carrying rice and coal respectively expected to take berths at Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Wednesday.
There were thirteen ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV San Felix, CV Songa Calabria, MV Sea Fortune, MV Hong Kong, MV Industrial Century, MV Chem Dream, MV Agri Princess, MV Makiki, MT Al Oraiq, MT Adm, MT Tatono Bottiglieri and MT JO Pinari carrying containers, chemical, steel coil, project cargo, coal, soyabean, mogas, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
There is one ship namely CV Teno carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
