Peshawar District administration on Saturday organised an anti-polio and dengue prevention awareness walk in Union Councils, Karimpura and Gunj. The walk was staged on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Islamzeb. Assistant Commissioner (AC) Peshawar, Mohammad Mughees Sanaullah, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Qaiser Khan Kundi, Health Field Coordinator, Shahid Awan, Area Coordinators WHO, Dr Rizwan & Dr Saif, officials of the health department, lady health visitors, community health workers, volunteer force, students and people from different walks of life participated in the walk at large.
The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with appeals to parents for administering polio drops to their children to save them from lifetime disability. On this occasion, pamphlets inscribed with preventive measures against dengue and polio were also distributed.
Addressing the participants of the walk, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Peshawar, Mohammad Mughees Sanaullah said dengue is transferred due to the biting of female dengue mosquito, which grows in the fresh water. Therefore, he stressed need for the removing of the standing water from their houses and disposing of the garbage of dirt. He said the mosquito will not be eliminated till there is standing water.
