Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has called upon the Supreme Court to strictly deal with those indulging in horse trading in the Senate elections. Addressing a large public meeting at Mardan on Friday, he also urged the political parties not to accept those who had betrayed their own party. He said the Senate could not perform its functions smoothly without cleansing such elements.
JI provincial chief and Senator-elect, Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, also addressed the meeting. Sirajul Haq said that the NAB seemed to be content with initiating action against an individual and a family but the nation was awaiting accountability of the other 436 people named in the Panama leaks. He said the JI had also filed a petition in the Supreme Court for the trial of these people and he still did not know when the court would summon these people. The JI chief pointed out that the total foreign loan of the country was around 73 billion dollars whereas a huge amount of 300 billion dollars owned by the Pakistanis was lying in Swiss banks. He said if this money could be retrieved and brought to the country, all the problems facing the country could be solved.
He demanded of the NAB to bring all the plunderers including former generals, judges and bureaucrats to the dock and recover their ill gotten money from them. He said that the corrupt politicians should be given the option to return the plundered wealth or get ready to go to the Adyala jail. He said that the country could not be free from corruption without the accountability of the politicians. The JI chief counseled the religious forces not to fight among themselves and instead forge unity against the agents of the international establishment and those preaching of secularism and liberalism. He said that the Ulema and Mashaikh and religious leadership should stand united to foil the designs of those trying to undo the Islamic identity of the country.
Sirajul Haq said that the MMA had not initiated any political activity till now yet some people looked to be disappointed as they did not want the religious forces to unite. However, he said that the religious parties alliance in the form of MMA was a happy augury as the religious forces alone could steer the country out of the present crisis. The JI chief said that evil should be responded by good and not with evil.
He said that the alternative for the corrupt and dishonest leadership was an honest and competent leadership. He was sure that the MMA would emerge as an alternative leadership.-PR
