Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam: NAB arrests CE Lahore Development

National Accountability Bureau (NAB ) on Friday arrested Chief Engineer Lahore Development Israr Saeed along with three other officials including Bilal Qudwai, Col Arif (retd) and Imtiaz Haider in Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam. Earlier NAB had called the officials for interrogation on the hint of former DG LDA Ahad Cheema who is in NAB custody on physical remand.
NAB interrogates the officials for about nine and half hours and later arrested them in the scam. The chief engineer had already submitted financial records related to the Scheme before the NAB.
The NAB had arrested Ahad Khan Cheema in Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scam. Cheema was arrested from his Gulberg office after he failed to comply with the NAB's summons.
In their last notice, the NAB had asked Cheema to provide a detailed statement regarding the award of the contract for the Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Project and the purchase of 32 kanals of land at Mouza Tedha Cantt in Lahore. NAB has also called the details of assets of close relatives of Ahad Cheema.
The NAB had decided to initiate a probe into the housing society after receiving a number of complaints regarding an 'illegal deal' involving 3,000 kanals of government land between the PLDC and the contracting companies.
