The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) held its meeting under the Chairmanship of Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash, the Additional Chief Secretary P&D Department on Thursday, and approved 20 developmental projects in different sectors. The meeting was attended by Zahir Shah, Secretary P&D Department, its members and respective administrative Secretaries. The forum considered 27 projects pertaining to different sectors including law & justice, industries, water, agriculture, multi-sectoral development, local government, higher education, building and roads sectors for the uplift of the province.
The forum approved 20 projects with an estimated cost of Rs 8543.837 million, while seven projects were deferred due to inadequate design. In the law & justice sector approved project was "construction of Tehsil Judicial Complex, Hangu, construction of rooms for district and High Court Bar Swat and bar rooms Abbottabad, reconstruction and renovation of judicial complex Kohat.
Approved project of Industries sector was "Rehabilitation of Existing SIDB Small Industrial Estates (D.I. Khan, Bannu, Kohat and Mansehra). In the water sector approved project was "Improvement of Abazai canal system and allied structures district Malakand".
Approved projects of agriculture were "Rehabilitation & Construction of buildings for existing civil veterinary dispensaries in KP, provision of interest-free loan worth Rs 462.480 million for the beneficiaries of Gomal Zam Dam-Command Area Development Project". In Multi-Sectoral Development sector approved project was "Establishment of PPP Support Unit in P&D Department".
In the local government sector approved projects were "acquisition of land for bus terminal at Haripur (PPP), improvement of infrastructure in Sheikh Maltoon Township Mardan, Municipal Management Information Unit". Approved projects of higher education sector were "Establishment of Home Economics College for Women Mardan, establishment of public libraries (Phase-III), performance-based grant to public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, repair of Govt. College buildings in govt colleges of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through College Councils".
In the building sector approved projects were "Establishment of Project Unit for PaRRSA / PDMA for USAID projects in C&W Department, Emergent nature and Additional Construction of Office/Residential Buildings". Approved projects of roads sector were "F/S, design and rehabilitation / widening of road from GT Road to Khushal Khan Khattak Mazar Akora Khattak, Nowshera, Const./Rehab. Of roads from Inzari to Hisartang and Shaidu Khwar to Shinwari Koroona via Eidgah, District Nowshera, Improvement of Krapa to Shakardara (35) KM District Kohat".
