Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 182,422 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,837 tonnes of import cargo and 64,585 tonnes of export cargo including 7,119 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 117,837 tonnes comprised of 30,909 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,622 tonnes of bulk cargo; 54,006 tonnes of coal and 30,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 64,585 tonnes comprised of 54,239 tonnes of containerised cargo; 250 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,683 tonnes of rice and 8,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,119 containers comprising of 2,415 containers import and 4,704 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 475 of 20's and 887 of 40's loaded while 26 of 20's and 70 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,325 of 20's and 918 of 40's loaded containers while 169 of 20's and 687 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely MS Tiger, Wan Hai-503, Sima Giselle, Xin Chang Shu, Ariane Makara, Soho Trader, Kong Que Song and Kiran Bosphorus carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Kota Karim, Ever Diamond, OOCL California, Argent Hibiscus and Alam Mulia carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 115,212 tonnes includes 50,000 tonnes of LNG; 4,500 tonnes of palm oil; 3,500 tonnes of coal; 212 tonnes of general cargo and 57,000 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 37,162 tonnes includes 6,686 tonnes of rice and 30,476 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,604 containers comprising of 3,000 containers import and 1,604 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MT Corona carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two ships namely CV Maersk Kingston and MV Pacific Victory carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Kingston, CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV CSAV Tyndall, MV Genava, MV Dazi Yun, MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Pacific Victory, MT Express and MT Corona were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, general cargo, rice, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Priority, MV Marine Dream, MV Tiger Pioneer, MV Christina-L, Caravas Liberty, MV Auro, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi, MT Red Eagle and Chemroad Journey carrying containers, steel coil, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. MV Tiger Pioneer and Chemroad Journey carrying coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were six ships namely CV Express Makalu, MV Othani, MV Sea Meray, MV Cavasnos, MV Marine Dream and MV Zi Jing Song carrying containers, chemical, rice, coal, steel coil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ships namely CV Priority carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while three ships namely CV Torrente, CV CMA CGM Georgia and CV GH Chinook carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
