Elected representatives have described timely holding of Senate elections as a step toward strengthening of democracy in the country. Talking to media persons in Islamabad on Saturday, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said Senate elections is yet another milestone in the democratic process. He said conspiracy theories of failed politicians about Senate elections have vanished.
Talking to PTV, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Saturday marks the day as historic for Pakistan as Senate elections took place on time. In an interview, Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani said prosperity of the people was linked to the democratic system.
Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Pir Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah said polling for Senate was underway in a peaceful environment and whatever the decision was it would be accepted. Pakistan Muslim League-Zia Chief Ijaz-ul-Haq said Senate elections was a giant step towards strengthening of democracy.
