The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production has strongly recommended the Ministry of Finance to provide requisite funds for up-gradation of ship lifting system and infrastructure development of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works. The committee met here with MNA Khawaja Sohail Mansoor in the chair on Monday.
The committee was briefed by the managing director of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works about the ongoing and new Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). He said that the ECNEC and CDWP have already approved two projects, ie, up-gradation of ship lifting system and infrastructure development of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works. The committee strongly recommended to the Ministry of Finance and Revenue for providing the funds on priority basis. The committee appreciated the role of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works under the supervision of its management and minister for defence production.
The meeting was attended by MNAs including Muhammad Khan Daha, Amra Khan, Shah Jahan Baloch, Asiya Nasir and Bilal Rehman, besides senior officers of the Ministry of Defence Production and Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
