President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), Tariq Malik, called for policy reforms to attain benefits of GSP Plus status. "It is learnt previously required measures were not adopted to benefit from the status and market access to EU," he said, lamenting that Pakistan couldn't achieve export targets for many years.
He said now extended status of GSP Plus is providing another opportunity to step forward. He said a comprehensive strategy is a need of time to attain benefits of GSP Plus status and government should take required measure as soon as possible.
KATI's senior vice president Salman Aslam praised the efforts of Minister of Commerce Pervaiz Malik and Federal Secretary Commerce Younus Dhaga for extension of GSP plus Status. KATI's vice president Junaid Naqi urged that to achieve this opportunity a great deal of reforms in economic policy and trade strategy should be made on priority basis.
