Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair Saturday said as the next general elections are round the corner, all major political parties must focus on their economic agenda with a clear vision to move the country forward. This he said while addressing a consultative meeting of CEO Club at a local hotel here.
Governor Sindh said that our collective focus should be on economy as the future progress and prosperity lies in strong economy. All political parties must unite and make coordinated efforts to show Pakistan's soft image to the world, he added.
Zubair said opposition for the sake of opposition must be avoided and the next government and opposition must work together to bring to an end the negative perception of the country. The recent example of the World Economic Forum in Davos must be followed, wherein Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari shared the stage and spoke about the real face of Pakistan which is far better than the perception, he added.
Governor Sindh said there should be no politics when it comes to national cause and interests... we must all present the case of Pakistan with a single voice to show the world that there are no differences among us when it comes to national prestige.
He said economic decisions must be left to experts and there should be no influence or pressure of the government in this regard. The experts must make decisions that should be beneficial to economy, he maintained. He said the government has performed exceptionally well on the economic front despite various hurdles.
The scenario of 2013 has been changed with considerable improvement in law & order, energy situation and investment climate, he added. He said Karachi has been completely transformed during PML government's tenure. Governor Sindh said that with the determination, support and pledge of the government and untiring efforts of our law enforcement agencies, Karachi was now regaining its past glory. Social, cultural, economic, literary and sports activities are in full swing here and Karachiites are enjoying their daily routine without any fear, he observed.
Lauding the initiative of Pakistan pavilion at Davos, Governor Sindh said that such endeavors are essential to showcase Pakistan at the world stage. It is true that perception takes time to be corrected but we must continue to work to propagate the reality about Pakistan.
He said CPEC is a game changer as it would not only transform our infrastructure but would also facilitate the pace of development. Its energy projects are key to our economic progress and would contribute to making Pakistan an energy surplus country, he added.
Governor Sindh appreciated the efforts of Chairman Pathfinder Group Ikram Saigal and hoped that the same would continue in future. Governor Sindh lauded the efforts of CEOs in boosting the economy. Pathfinder Group Chairman Ikram Saigal, economist Shabbar Zaidi, Dr Huma Baqai, HUM TV Chairperson Sultana Siddiqui, Javed Akai, Aijaz Nisar and prominent CEOs were also present on the occasion.
