Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Faisal Saturday told Aaj News that Pakistani troops being sent to Saudi Arabia under bilateral agreement have nothing to do with the Saudi-led military coalition. Answering questions of renowned anchorperson Shaukat Piracha of Aaj News talk show 'Rubaroo,' Dr Faisal said Foreign Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif would take Parliament into confidence on the issue.
He said Pakistani troops were also sent to other friendly Gulf countries including Iran. He said Pakistan has agreements with friendly countries under which such deployments are made. Former ambassador to the United States, Sherry Rehman said it is a sensitive issue and Parliament is to formulate policy regarding sending troops to any country.
