Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the fire spitting by the national leaders on one another at the close of the general elections was a matter of deep concern and must be discarded. Addressing different party meeting at in the city, he said that top political leaders were breathing fire in public meetings and media talks which could threaten the political process and elections. He said that tolerance and expression of difference of opinion in decent way was the essence of democracy.
Liaqat slated the horse trading of the assembly members for Senate elections. He deplored that some so called champions of democracy were among the buyers. He called upon the Election Commission to take immediate steps to stop the ugly practice. He expressed the hope that the judiciary would deal with those returning to the upper house through horse trading strictly, and make them an example by debarring them from politics for life.
