Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 139,977 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,683 tonnes of import cargo and 57,294 tonnes of export cargo including 9,357 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 82,683 tonnes comprised of 50,436 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,046 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,208 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 1,890 tonnes of rock phosphate; 5,318 tonnes of soyameal and 21,993 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 57,294 tonnes comprised of 50,090 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,329 tonnes of bulk cargo and 5,875 tonnes of wheat and 000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,357 containers comprising of 3,518 containers import and 5,839 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,238 of 20's and 1,007 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 133 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,351 of 20's and 482 of 40's loaded containers while 776 of 20's and 1,374 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MSC Pilar, Wide India, MT Karachi, Nave Polaris, Butinah and Nord Larskpur carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, rock phosphate and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, GSL Tianjin, Wan Hai-506, Nurbano, Da Liang and Safe Sea Neha-II carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 98,290 tonnes includes 30,567 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,351 tonnes of canola seeds; 14,500 tonnes of chemical; 8,000 tonnes of coal; 1,506 tonnes of LPG; 369 tonnes of project cargo and 33,497 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 23,218 tonnes includes 23,218 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,985 containers comprising of 1,763 containers import and 1,222 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV Prosper and MT Ras Tanura carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely MV Celsius Miami and MT Lion-M carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Suez Canal, CV Tucapel, CV Prosper, MV Mu Main Song, MV BBC Nile, MV Celsius Miami, MV Spring Cosmos, MV Star Sirius, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Lion-M and MT Ras Tanura were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV CCNI Arauca, MV Panorama, MV Navig-8 Universe, MT Simaisma, MT Epic Sodinia, MT Maria-III, MT Quetta, MT Brizo, MT Pitali Lady, MT Constantinos, MT Argent Aster, MT Able Sailor and MT Chemroute Sun carrying containers, soyabean, chemical, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV CCNI Arauca, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Navig-8 Universe, MT Simaisma and MT Able Sailor carrying containers, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were four ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV Express Black Sea, MV Daranee Naree and MT British Emerald carrying containers, cement and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV GSL Tianjin, CV Libra and CV Cape Mayor carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
