Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 273,926 tonnes of cargo comprising 218,635 tonnes of import cargo and 55,291 tonnes of export cargo including 6,390 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 218,635 tonnes comprised of 72,284 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,148 tonnes of general cargo; 28,187 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 18,882 tonnes of rock phosphate; 8,305 tonnes of soyameal and 97,016 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 55,291 tonnes comprised of 39,747 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,010 tonnes of general cargo and 7,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,390 containers comprising of 2,472 containers import and 3,918 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 738 of 20's and 727 of 40's loaded while 08 of 20's and 136 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 337 of 20's and 216 of 40's loaded containers while 225 of 20's and 1,462 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Ever Unique, OOCL Busan, Prosper, Unique Harmony, MT Lahore, Oriental Lotus, Ariane Makara, YM Miranda, Saehan Wallaby and DA Kang carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. X-Press Kailash, Virgo, Ever Unique, OOCL Busan, Oriental Lotus, Oriental Jasmine, SIT Excutive, YM Miranda, Ince Tokyo, Heilan Brother and Yangtze Harmony carrying containers, oil tankers chemical, wheat and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely X-Press Kailash and Virgo carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Oriental Jasmine carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday. There were three vessels viz. Hyundai Splendor, Sima Genesis and Wide India carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Monday while eight vessels viz. Sydney Trader, Houston Express, MSC Pilar, TM Orchid, MT Karachi, Wili Fi, Reem-3 and Lake Sturgeon carrying containers, oil tankers, bitumen and mogas respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 43,772 tonnes includes 11,300 tonnes of palm oil; 17,815 tonnes of canola seeds; 9,200 tonnes of coal; 3,675 tonnes of chemical; 984 tonnes of project cargo and 798 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 56,431 tonnes includes 37,108 tonnes of crude oil and 19,323 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,059 containers comprising of 42 containers import and 1,017 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were four ships namely CV APL Antwerp, MV Clipper Viking, MT Stavanger Bliss and MT Lumphini Park carrying containers, chemical and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV APL Antwerp, MV Clipper Viking, MV Da Liang, MV Le Kong, MV Daphane, MV Young Harmony, MT Stavanger Bliss and MT Lumphini Park were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, canola seeds, coal, chemical, crude oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV MSC Albany, MV Kobe Star, MV Panorama, MT Star Sirious, MV Spring Cosmos, MT Ejnan, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Brizo, MT Constantinos, MT Glorious and MT Chemroad Mega carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, LNG, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Albany, CV Express Kailash, MV Union Explorer, MT Ejnan and MT Chemroad Mega carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Energy Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were three ships namely CV Tucapel, MV BBC Nile and MT Quetta carrying containers, project cargo and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Monday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus, CV Maersk Atlanta and CV MSC Al-Ghero carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
