Pakistan People Party has decided to set up camps at different levels in various districts for contacting public during the ongoing membership drive across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The provincial President Muhammad Humayun Khan while speaking at a gathering of senior workers here on Saturday said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had directed the office bearers to ensure enlisting maximum people as members and avoid submitting fake lists.
The senior activists, he said would form groups to focus on door to door visits, setting up of camps in the streets, bazaars, busy places to attract people and register them as members.
Besides the fresh new comers, he said the senior workers would also fill in the forms so that to know the actual number of party workers in the province. The leaders of different wings including students, youth, women, labourers, employees of various government departments and farmers would also make efforts to strengthen their units at different districts, tehsils, divisional and wards levels.
Humayun Khan said that his party had for the first time initiated membership drive in such an organized manner otherwise in the past the office bearers had to submit lists to high ups without any confirmation. The membership drive, he said would prove that PPP was the largest political party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and still had roots in masses which would form government in the province. He said it was time the PPP workers should start work for strengthening of the party as it was the only ray of hope for the common people to bring a real change in their fate.
He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had badly disappointed the people, especially its supporters due to its wrong policies. He said PTI had lost precious time in useless sit-ins, protest rallies and did nothing for uplift of the public.
The PPP leader said that the PTI leadership was raising tall claims about legislation but the poor performance of its ehtesab commission proved that it failed to control corruption and just targeted its opponents.
He said the PTI government started the bus rapid transit project at a time when its tenure was about to end which would not be completed within the stipulate period. He said the haphazard work created many problems for the public where movement of the citizens had become almost impossible.
