Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Saturday said that 'Billion Tree Tsunami' project had been completed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 1.12 billion trees were planted during the forestry drive. The PTI chairman was talking to journalists and he briefed them on the tree plantation project.
He said the trees were planted over a period of three years; however, the PTI chief lamented that propaganda is being used to defame the forestry project. The project has been under scrutiny due to its magnitude. Recently, the official documents of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to correspond with the claims made by the PTI chief regarding the project.
Imran Khan alleged that Mir Shakeel Ur Rehman, the owner of a private media group, is running propaganda in Pakistan and is receiving funds in return from abroad. The PTI chief also came down hard on Ishaq Dar, a close aide of Nawaz Sharif, for skipping court case that declared him an absconder. He demanded his immediate arrest by bringing him back from abroad where he is taking refuge under the pretext of ailment.
"Ishaq Dar should be brought before the court handcuffed as soon as possible as there is a clear-cut case of money laundering and corruption against him...if he is innocent why he is skipping the court hearings," said Imran. "The PML-N has given a ticket to a wanted person and we will challenge his nominations papers," he added.
Khan once again showered praise on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and claimed that the force is not under pressure from anyone. "Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police are working independently without any political pressure," he claimed. "Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police solved the murder of Asma in Mardan. Our police force also solved the murder of Mashal Khan," he said.
Imran said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have not committed any extrajudicial killings. "Propaganda is being spread against our KP intentionally," he said. "Lies are also being propagated against our Billion Tree Tsunami project," he added. The PTI chief commended the apex court and said that his party will always stand by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. "Supreme Court of Pakistan is working to establish the rule of law in Pakistan," he said, adding: "PTI stands by judiciary and the need of the hour is that we must get rid of these political mafias."
