Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 113,793 tonnes of cargo comprising 86,513 tonnes of import cargo and 27,280 tonnes of export cargo including 6,596 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 86,513 tonnes comprised of 58,987 tonnes of containerised cargo; 07 tonnes of general cargo; 5,403 tonnes of coke and 22,116 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,280 tonnes comprised of 26,980 tonnes of containerised cargo and 300 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 6,596 containers comprising of 3,759 containers import and 2,837 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,619 of 20's and 968 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 100 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 632 of 20's and 351 of 40's loaded containers while 175 of 20's and 664 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely APL Antwerp, Polo, Maribor, Navios Verano, Hansa Neuburg, Chemroute Pegasus and Challenger carrying containers, oil tanker and coke respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Hansa Neuburg, MOL Explorer, Northern Dedication and Saehan Wallaby carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely MOL Explorer and Maliakos carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Saehan Wallaby carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Saturday.
There were six vessels viz. Ever Unique, MT Lahore, Oriental Lotus, Ariane Makara, Butinah and Da Kang carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. Virgo, OOCL Busan, Caribbean, Nave Polaris, Heilan Brother and Yangtze Harmony carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

The total import cargo of 87,803 tonnes includes 65,000 tonnes of LNG; 6,987 tonnes of palm oil; 1,290 tonnes of canola seeds; 8,700 tonnes of coal; 1,133 tonnes of project cargo and 4,693 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 3,214 tonnes includes 269 tonnes of cement and 2,945 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 402 containers comprising of 247 containers import and 155 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were five ships namely CV Prosper, MV Beks Cenk, MV Johanna Oldendroff, MV BW Hazel, MT Al-Gattara and MT Chemroad Hope carrying containers, cement, canola seeds, coal and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Prosper, MV Cerulean, MV Beks Cenk, MV Johanna Oldendroff, MV BW Hazel, MT Maran Gas Sparta, MT Al-Gattara and MT Chemroad Hope were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, cement, canola seeds, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV CMA CGM Blue Whale, CV APL Antwerp, MV DA Liang, MV Lecong, MV Daphane, MV Hony World, MV Spring Cosmos, MT Star Sirious, MT Khor Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Brizo, MT Constantinos, MT Glorious, MT Lumphini Park, MT Chemroad Mega and MT Nave Cosmos carrying containers, general cargo, canola seeds, coal, LNG, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Blue Whale, CV Express Rome, MV Daphane, MV Hony World and MT Nave Cosmos carrying containers, canola seeds, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There were four ships namely CV Virgo, CV APL Antwerp, CV Safmarine Ngami and MV Stavanger Bliss carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Saturday.
