The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has decided to recover Rs 11 billion from defaulters with the help of third party as soon an advertisement would be promulgated to engage a private firm for the purpose. It may be noted that Lesco had earlier referred the cases of defaulters to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) but all in vein, as there was no major success till date. So much so, former Lesco Chief Syed Wajid Ali Kazmi had to pay through his nose for this poor performance. He has been replaced by the ministry for poor performance.
Lesco had disconnected electricity meters of defaulters to recover defaulted amount. The Director Customer Services said the Company would initiate the procedure for hiring a private firm for recovery of amounts from defaulters.
