JI local leader killed in Bannu

Jamaat-e-Islami's district leader Malik Tufail Ahmed was shot dead early Sunday morning in Ghoriwala area of Bannu by unidentified persons who opened fire on him, police said. According to the police, unidentified men managed to flee the scene.
Further investigation into the case is under way. Tufail was killed when unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at him in Bannu's Mughalkhel area, in the jurisdiction of Garorwala police station, police added. The suspects escaped from the site after the incident. Police began search operations in the area in order to arrest the culprits. A case was filed at Garorwala police station against unknown suspects, police said. Police added that Tufail did not have any personal enmity with anyone.
Earlier this week, at least eight members of a family, including two minor girls, were killed and another man was injured in a landmine blast in Kurram Agency. According to hospital sources, the family was traveling from Muqbal area near the border to attend a funeral in Upper Kurram's Basu area when their vehicle hit a landmine killing three women, two minor girls and three men on the spot. The car was completely destroyed in the blast.
