The country's seafood export continues to grow, as fishermen hope the warming sea conditions will help scale up catch. Seafood export mounted to $200.097 million in July-December 2017 from $183.446 million in July-December 2016, as Pakistan Bureau of Statistics indicates an increase of 8.08 percent or $16.651 million.
"Boats to heading towards harbour will reach in a week that will show an exact situation of catch growth," Habibullah Khan Niazi, the president Sindh Trawlers Owners and Fishermen Association told Business Recorder on Saturday, saying "there is a hope of increase in catch". In term of quantity, the country exported 76,098 metric tons of seafood during July-December 2017 as compared to its export of 66,883 metric tons in July-December 2016, up by 14 percent or 9215 metric tons.
