Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has stated that the PTI is not in alliance with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) as their participation in the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)'s protest is for a humanitarian cause. While addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the PTI has its own ideology that applies to the PPP and thus participation of both the parties in the PAT's protest should not be seen as an alliance between the two parties. "To avoid misunderstanding, it has been decided that the PTI and PPP chiefs Imran Khan and Asif Zardari will appear on the stage in different sessions. They will not share stage at the same time," he added.
Referring to the protest, he said it is not a rally; it is a one-day protest. "It is just the beginning and the protest will only end with the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif," he added. He was critical of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for issuing a contempt of court notice to PTI Chairman Imran Khan on trivial matters and added that it has opened a front against the PTI. "The ECP should learn from the Supreme Court by showing patience," he added. He was of the view that the ECP's present role is controversial.
