The Karachi Port handled 332,030 tonnes of cargo comprising 259,341 tonnes of import cargo and 72,689 tonnes of export cargo including 3,527 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 259,341 tonnes comprised of 72,840 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,955 tonnes of general cargo; 97,601 tonnes of bulk cargo: 86,023 tonnes of coal; 11,578 tonnes of fertilizer and 80,945 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 72,689 tonnes comprised of 61,878 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,784 tonnes of rice and 3,027 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,527 containers comprising of 923 containers import and 2,604 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 364 of 20's and 277 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 379 of 20's and 241 of 40's loaded containers while 639 of 20's and 552 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were sixteen ships namely CMA CGM Figaro, Prosper, Libra, MSC Krittika, Northern Priority, Hansa Offenburg, Sydney Trader, Luebeck, Express Black Sea, MT Lahore, Corona, Unique Developer, AC-D, Pure Vision, Matsusaka and Zi Jing Song carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were thirteen vessels viz. MSC Krittika, Wan Hai-503, Hansa Offenburg, Sydney Trader, Luebeck, Express Black Sea, OOCL Shanghai, MT Karachi, N Mars, AC-D, Johanna Oldendorit, Pan Ivy and Matsusaka carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely MT Karachi and Great Link carrying oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely Pacific Voyager carrying rice is expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were five vessels viz. Northern Dependant, Hofton Express, Hyundai Splendor, Besiktas Zealand and Nan Lin Wan carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Ever Diamond, Oriental Rose, Alam Mulia and CT Frontier carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 123,040 tonnes includes 16,000 tonnes of LNG; 4,980 tonnes of LPG; 32,536 tonnes of diesel oil, 10,000 tonnes of palm oil; 15,351 tonnes of coal; 4,121 tonnes of canola seeds and 40,052 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 33,041 tonnes includes 33,041 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,847 containers comprising of 2,108 containers import and 1,739 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There was one ship namely MT Bow Tribute carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Tuesday.
A total number of twelve vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, canola seeds, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve ships namely CV MSC Heidi, MV Kirri Billi, MV Yasa Pembe, MV Era-S, MV Sea Harvest, MV Octaden, MT White Pearl, MT Khor Gas, MT Gas Amazon, MT Tiamal Gas, MT Quetta and MT Corona carrying containers, canola seeds, coal, rice, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Heidi, MV Octaden and MT Corona carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were seven ships namely CV Maersk Denver, CV Priority, CV Teno, CV Prosper, CV Hansa America, CV Melina and CV Virgo carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
