The first phase of the 7th Indus Water Cross Jeep Race-2017 is beginning at the Indus River near Swabi Interchange on Motorway M-1 today (Saturday). Organised by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the Frontier 4x4 Club, the event is aimed at providing an opportunity of entertainment to the local people and highlighting the tourism potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to attract more tourists to the scenic spots of the province.
According to organizers, over 150 jeep racers, including five women drivers, and 22 mountain motorbike riders are participating in the spectacular race this year. They said that the enthusiast drivers of 4x4 jeeps, including five women racers, from across the country would participate in the event. A tough and rough track of stones and rocks of nine kilometers distance would be established over the waters of mighty Indus River for the jeep racers.
Over 112 jeeps of the Frontier 4x4 Club, 20 jeeps of PMRC of Lahore, 10 jeeps of the Islamabad Jeep Club, five jeeps of the Chitral 4x4 Club, three jeeps of the Team Sultan, 22 bike riders and other valiant drivers would test their skills and talents at the game of power and force of four wheelers to cross the gushing waters of Indus River The event has now become a regular feature as the TCKP in collaboration with the Frontier 4 X 4 Club is organizing the thrilling jeep race on the waters of Indus River every year.
The TCKP had earlier also conducted paragliding and rafting activities, train safari tours for families, City tours, zip-lining, water sports at Khanpur Lake and many others in the province successfully.
