The Karachi Port handled 235,518 tonnes of cargo comprising 148,951 tonnes of import cargo and 86,567 tonnes of export cargo including 6,199 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 148,951 tonnes comprised of 35,923 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,558 tonnes of general cargo; 45,320 tonnes of bulk cargo: 41,000 tonnes of coal; 4,320 tonnes of fertilizer and 52,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 86,567 tonnes comprised of 81,237 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,330 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,199 containers comprising of 2,328 containers import and 3,871 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,010 of 20's and 563 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 96 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 828 of 20's and 423 of 40's loaded containers while 623 of 20's and 787 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were two ships namely Hyundai Force and Carpe Diem-II carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Sima Giselle, King Douglas and Bunga Lavender carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely Cosco New York, YM Wealth, MT Shalamar, Union Trader and Suzuki Express carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Sima Giselle, Sima Genesis and MOL Explorer carrying containers are expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels Van Cherry and Zi Jing Song carrying vehicle and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz. Northern Priority, Sabya, MT Lahore, Corona, Great Link and Positive Pioneer carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 59,455 tonnes includes 10,800 tonnes of LNG; 2,780 tonnes of LPG; 3,017 tonnes of diesel oil, 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 10,561 tonnes of mogas; 8,414 tonnes of steel coil; 7,956 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,543 tonnes of project cargo and 6,384 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 48,792 tonnes includes 48,792 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,904 containers comprising of 336 containers import and 2,568 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were four ships namely CV Maersk Kinsington, MV Bao Success, MT Al Nuaman and MT Maistros carrying containers, steel coil, LNG and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MV Zi Jing Song carrying general cargo is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, steel coil, canola seeds, LPG, LNG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Suez Canal, MV Pan Ocean, MV AC-D, MV SC Zhu Hai, MV Kirri Billi, MV GH Rough Habit, MT Maria-III, MT Black Pearl, MT Valie Binaca, MT Glorious and MT JS Green Star carrying containers, rice, chemical, canola seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were four vessels viz. CV Suez Canal, MV Pan Ocean, MV AC-D and MT Glorious carrying containers, rice, chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were five ships namely CV Libra, CV Prosper, CV Nicoline Maersk, MT Ejnan and MT Tiamat Gas carrying containers, LNG and LPG respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV CCNI Arauco and MT Quetta carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
