July-October 2017: bill for pulses import falls by 26.09 percent
Pakistan's bill for pulses import slumped by 26.09 percent in July-October 2017 to $172.403 million, official figures show. Fall in pulses import now stands at $60.861 million in July-October 2017 from $233.264 million in July-October 2016, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics says.
Import volume of pulses also plunged by 26 percent or 61475 metric tons to 201,544 metric tons in July-October 2017 from 263,019 metric tons in July-October 2016. On annual basis, pulses import scaled back by 29.34 percent or $14.616 million to $35.201 million in October 2017 from $49.817 million in October 2016. Pulses import, in term of quantity, dropped to 39,032 metric tons in October 2017 from 53,158 metric tons in October 2017, showing a decline of 27 percent or 14126 metric tons.
