Awami National Party leader and renowned lawyer Latif Afridi has said that main cause of downfall of Pakhtun community is lack of education of science and technology. "Pakhtun youth should utilise their energies to seek knowledge if they want a respectful status in the world," he said, speaking as chief guest at the Bacha Khan Talent award ceremony, held at Government Boys Degree College, Landi Kotal, Khyber Agency on Sunday.
ANP central finance secretary Arbab Tahir Khan, scholar Dr Sohail, chief editor Bacha Khan Pakhtun magazine Hayat Rohani, local ANP leaders and a large number of students and tribesmen attended the ceremony. Latif Afridi urged the Pakhtuns to follow the philosophy of non-violence of Bacha Khan to end terrorism and extremism on their land.
He stressed on the tribal people to encourage female education in the society because half of the population of the country comprised of women and they could play vital role in the development of the country. He asked them to change their mindset to promote girls' education.
He announced fifteen laptops prizes for the winners of next Bacha Khan Talent award to be held in near future in Landi Kotal. At the end, the chief guest gave away ten laptops to the Top-10 winners of Bacha Khan Talent competition.
