PU wins 11 gold, four silver medals in 'National Youth Carnival'
The students of Punjab University have shown outstanding performance in the National Youth Carnival (NYC) 2017 as they clinched 11 gold, 4 silver medals, team trophy and Rs 300, 000 cash award as "National Championship Team".
The event was organized by the Directorate General of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of KPK at Peshawar. Competitions were held in 30 different categories where teams from more than 100 educational institutions across the country participated. Students including Asim Zubair, Moeez Alvi, Ghufran Chishti, Muslim Shagan, Hafiz Asad Sharif, Ali Behzad, Sohaib Mugheera and Malik Ahsan in calligraphy, short film, spot photography, photo essay, Urdu singing, Pashto singing, Qiraa't, Na'at, Urdu essay writing and stand-up comedy obtained gold medals and Rs 60, 60 thousand each respectively while in music band Ghufran Chishti, Muslim Shagan, Nazar Abbas, Muhammad Afindi and Ammanat Ali got gold medal and Rs 60, 000 as prize money. Similarly, Hindco singing, Console gaming (FIFA), Chess and Urdu declamation students Saba Butt, Ammaz Shabbir, Ali Rayyan Sanwal and Ahmad Gulzar & Salman Afzal grabbed silver medals and Rs 40 thousand each respectively. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir has congratulated the PU boys on their achievements.
