City police and Rangers conducted a joint search operation in various parts of the federal capital on Friday, nabbed nine suspects and recovered weapons. A police official said that police, Rangers and personnel of other agencies conducted a search operation in jurisdictions of Kohsar and Nilor police stations. Search operation was headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Syed Tanveer Mustafa while police commandos, lady commandos and personnel of bomb disposal squad (BDS) also took part in it.
He said that security personnel screened 58 houses, checked 52 persons and arrested nine suspects, besides recovering two SMGs along with 804 rounds, six 30-bore pistols, one 7MM gun, three pump-actions and one 8MM gun along with ammunition. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Sultan Azam Temuri inaugurated Police Inter-Division Cricket Tournament. Speaking on the occasion, he said that sports activities are very much crucial for a healthy society which not only promote atmosphere of competition but also inculcate the spirit to counter tough situations.
The event started with a match between Logistic Division and Operation Division. The IGP said that policemen feel exhausted due to long duties and such event will help entertain them, besides providing them opportunity to demonstrate their skills.
