- European Union soft wheat exports in the 2017/18 season that started on July 1 had reached 9.0 million tonnes by December 12, down 25 percent from 12.1 million tonnes exported by the same stage last season, official data showed on Thursday.
In the latest reporting week, the EU exported 156,000 tonnes of soft wheat, based on a revised cumulative total of 8.9 million to the end of the previous week, the data showed. EU 2017/18 barley exports had reached 2.4 million tonnes by December 12, up 23 percent from 1.9 million a year earlier.
Maize imports came to 6.4 million tonnes, 50 percent above the 4.3 million imported by the same stage last year, the data showed.
