United Business Group (UBG) is poised to sweep the FPCCI's elections fourth time consecutively as the opposition only fielded six candidates out of 13.
Chairing central core committee meeting here on Saturday to review the progress of election campaign of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) annual elections for the year 2018, central Chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik claimed that the business community supports the UBG because of their unprecedented services. He said the UBG will continue to implement its 30-point agenda mainly aimed at accelerating the pace of economic activities and expediting the process of rapid industrialization besides bringing green revolution in the country.
Malik further said Pakistan was facing severe challenges while process of industrialization was almost stopped. He urged businessmen to change their conventional thinking approach and come up with some plans such as value-addition to their items. "We can get handsome prices by exporting value-added items to the international market. For value-addition, transfer of technology is a must," he said. UBG Chairman demanded abolition of withholding tax, bringing an end to raids on the taxpayers' business centres and payment of the refunds to the exporters.
