Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has said he has brought a delegation of businessmen from UK to interact with Pakistani entrepreneurs. In his interaction with Pakistani audience at the Al-Hamra Hall, here on Wednesday, he said he has visited India and Pakistan with a clear message that London is open to all for all types of activities including business, education and tourism.
A large number of elites of the town had turned up to listen to him at The Mall Road. Traffic flow had been badly disturbed due to the VIP movement of London Mayor and a good number of invitees were stuck up in traffic jam for long, delaying the programme that was hosted by Aaj News anchorperson Munizae Jehangir.
Sadiq said he has visited three cities of India before embarking on his visit to three cities of Pakistan to promote ties between London and the sub-continent. He said he would advise the British government to ease down visa restrictions to bring more and more students to England. He said London and Pakistan share a long and unique history that has had a profound influence on shaping our respective societies, economies and cultures.
"I see my visit as an exciting opportunity to build on the ties that bind our cities and countries together for the mutual benefit of everyone - Brits and Pakistanis, Londoners and Lahorites alike. There is a huge amount we can learn from each other and I'm confident there's scope for even greater collaboration in the years to come," he added.
He said there are already incredible links - built up over many decades - between the people and businesses of Pakistan and those based in the UK and London, and there is now over £2.5 billion worth of trade between our countries. "But I know we can't be complacent. That's why my aim is to ensure that London not only remains a top destination of choice for people from Pakistan, but that it becomes an even more attractive place to come to work, study or do business," he maintained.
