With a view to raise awareness in public about the importance of vote and voters, National Voters' Day is being marked on Thursday (today). To mark the day, main ceremony will be held in the federal capital which will be attended by Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza and officials of different government departments. At provincial level ceremonies will be held at Governor Houses, in which provincial Election commissioners and other officials will attend the events.
Rallies will be organized at district level. Representatives of media, civil society and women organizations are invited in these activities. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in his message said the purpose of celebrating this day is to highlight the importance and utility of vote among the public.
He said that opinion of the voters is very pivotal in any democratic system as people are the pillars of strength and power that decide the fate of the governments with the power of their vote. Importance and utility of public vote is very pivotal in any democratic system and the societies prosperous speedily where public opinion is given importance. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N is the custodian of the democratic norms and it has always followed such norms and principles.
