The splinter group of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA) continued its sit-in on the Mall Road outside Punjab Assembly on sixth day causing great inconvenience to the commuters and the general public Leader of the faction, Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali is adamant that they will not call of their protest until Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah tenders his resignation as he has committed a great sin by supporting the Qadianis. However Rana Sanaullah has refused to resign saying that the protesters have gotten the resignation they had initially demanded.
Meanwhile, many protesters have left the sit-in and lesser number of protesters are present; public representation is also minimal. The provincial government has not made any contact with them for end of their sit-in on the busy road and commercial center.
The sit-in has led to blockade of the main thoroughfare causing huge traffic jam on Mall Road and alternate routes of Lawrence Road, Mozang Road, Fane Road, Safan Wala Chowk, Cooper Road, Kashmir Road, Laxmi Chowk and its surroundings. People are forced to cover long distance which takes extended hours to reach their destination.
As per Islamabad agreement the Punjab government has released about 500 protesters who were detained during Faizabad operation from eight prisons Adiala, Kot Lakhpat, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Gujrat Attock and other prisons across the province. The TLYRA leaders Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Dr Ashraf Asif Jalali - the senior representatives of the religious party -- have developed serious differences among themselves over the question of real leadership of the Tehrik and denounced the party factions led by the other.
Khadim alleged that the Lahore sit-in led by Jalali is an attempt to take credit for the successful Islamabad sit-in that he spearheaded for around three weeks. He should have wrapped up the sit-in after the agreement, whereas Dr Jalali said that Khadim demanded the resignation of the entire cabinet on the ground of killings of party workers, so why then did he settle on only the resignation of Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid.
