Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz has directed Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Bilal Siddique to submit detailed report of killing a young person due to alleged torture of Faisalabad Police within 24 hours. Expressing his anger, the IGP warned that torture during the course of investigation is unacceptable at any cost. He also ordered to carry out strict proceedings against responsible police personnel for this act. Further, he directed the RPO Faisalabad to himself look into this matter.
Meanwhile, the IGP chaired a meeting to review matters pertaining to investigation at the CPO office. Addressing the participants, Arif said that modern courses should be arranged for the police personnel to improve the level of investigation methods and adopt the modern and updated investigation techniques of developed countries in order to complete investigation of cases with transparency.
"To increase efficiency of officers and staff of homicide unit, all available resources should be utilized," he directed. The IGP Punjab also directed Additional IG Investigation Abu Bakkar Khuda Bakhsh to supervise the progress of investigation offices of homicide unit of all districts and submit the report in next session.
