As many as 4209 milch animals are distributed among the deserving widows of the rural areas of Faisalabad division for enabling them to earn respectable livelihood. In this connection, the distribution programme has been started in Chiniot district and a ceremony was held at Veterinary Hospital Tehsil Bhowana for distributing 194 buffaloes and cows among the deserving widows of Bhowana.
Members Parliament Mehr Saqlain Anwar Sipra and Maulana Rehmat Ullah were chief guests on the occasion while Chairman Municipal Committee Bhowana Mehr Muhammad Arshad, Vice Chairman Ch. Tanvir Gujar, Chairman Union Council Ch. Sajid Ali, Vice Chairman Mehr Ejaz, Assistant Commissioner Bhowana Naeem Afzal, Director Farms Dr. Abdul Rehman, Divisional Director Dr. M. Nawaz Malik, Assistant Director Dr. Abdul Majid, Dr. Fareeha, Dr. Jahangir and officers of Livestock Department were also present.
Addressing the ceremony Parliamentarians said this program will go a long way in helping alleviate poverty and pave way in promoting live stock sector. They said that the programme has become a great success due to which poor women would now lead a better life in rural areas. They said that Sheep, Goats Cows and Buffaloes have been distributed throughout the province. They said that this is a unique uplift programme for the welfare of the poor women and development of the livestock sector.
Director Livestock Dr. Abdul Rehman highlighted the importance of program and disclosed that the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department has provided best treatment facilities for the livestock breeders for the health of animals. Director Livestock Dr. Muhammad Nawaz Malik urged upon the women recipients of the milch animals to take proper care of the cattle and said that the cattle should be protected from effects of weather.
He informed that total number of 420 buffaloes and cows and 900 small animals were being distributed in Rural Tehsils of District Chiniot .He also told that 471 Cows and Buffaloes and 798 Sheep and Goats in District Faisalabad and 670 Large and 950 Small animals would be distributed among widows of District Jhang during this phase. He said under the policy, these cattle could not be sold within 3 years and FIR would be launched against him/her if found involved in selling cow or Buffalo.
