The blockage of entry points of the city during the last three days has caused petrol shortage in the city and citizens approached some 370 petrol pumps on Monday. The visual reports about the shortage panicked citizens by and large and they were found rushing to petrol pumps in different vicinities of the city. Salesmen at the petrol pumps either refused to fill tanks or provided limited quantity to accommodate maximum vehicles.
The entrance and exits points were closed due to protests by religious parties as a reaction of operation on protesters in Islamabad by the government. Supplies of petrol, vegetables and fruits were badly affected that led to a crisis-like situation. However, opening up the entry and exit points slowly revived the supplies.
