The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a notice on Monday to the interior ministry in a petition against blocking national identification cards of a family. A citizen, Faqir Hussain, plead that the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had blocked ID cards of his 10 family members without any legal justification. He argued that his family members had been facing difficulties in dealing with banks or doing jobs etc. The petitioner pointed out that securing a national ID card is the fundamental right of every citizen. Opposing the petition, the law officer argued that Pakistani ID cards of several Afghanis were issued illegally on the basis of father's ID card. He prayed the court to dismiss the petition as NADRA had validly blocked the cards.
