The district administration on Sunday closed down 12 illegal stone crushing plants set up at different areas of district Mardan that were causing pollution and respiratory diseases. According to district administration statement, the plants were set up without permission from the district government and in violation of environmental laws. It said that the plants set up in Palo Dheri, Spenki, Jabgi and Sodham areas were causing immense dust pollution in the respective areas.
The plants would only be allowed to operate after the owners follow and adhere to rules and regulations in line with environmental laws.
