The operation against protesters at Islamabad's Faizabad Interchange has triggered protests in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of Sialkot district on Saturday where scores of protesters have came out on streets and main roads for expressing unity with Faizabad protesters to condemned police action. The protest was started in Sialkot and a large number of protesters were gathered at Chowk Allama Iqbal and blocked various city roads. The protesters also brought out rally which blocked Kashmir Road as a result of normal traffic disrupted as well as daily chore was adversely affected.
Due to the protest, Sialkot to Rawalpindi and Sialkot to Lahore was adversely affected and passengers faced serious hardships. The protesters were forced the shopkeepers to close their shops and main markets in Sialkot and its adjoining areas, however the main markets were partially closed and normal life came to standstill.
It was reported that several gatherings from across the city joined the protest rally and protesters started marching from Kashmir Road to Industrial estate. The students, pedestrians were blocked and detracted due to the protest rallies. The ambulances could not reach their destination due to protest rallies in Sialkot.
While addressing the rallies, the speakers demand resignation of Federal Law and Interior Ministers. However, the overall situation of law and order was under control and no report of any mishap had so far been reported from any part of the district till filling of this report.
