The Karachi Port handled 88,081 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,400 tonnes of import cargo and 22,681 tonnes of export cargo including 1,616 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 65,400 tonnes comprised of 1,587 tonnes of containerised cargo; 541 tonnes of general cargo; 27,272 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,250 tonnes of rock phosphate; 20,022 tonnes of fertilizer and 36,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,681 tonnes comprised of 14,181 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 1,616 containers comprising of 140 containers import and 1,476 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 08 of 20's and 52 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 14 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 403 of 20's and 195 of 40's loaded containers while 101 of 20's and 291 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MOL Earnest, Ever Diamond, YM Orchid, Hansa Offenburg, Kong Que Zuo and Caribbean Harmony carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, Stolt Calluna, MT Shalamar and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Zente and Nasco Jade carrying containers and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Friday. There were three vessels APL Norway, Zente and Navios Vector carrying containers and DAP respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz. CMA CGM Narmada, CMA CGM Virginia, Gdynia Trader and Jin Run carrying containers and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 17,298 tonnes includes 3,542 tonnes of cement and 13,756 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,753 containers comprising of 1,029 containers import and 724 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Million Bell and MT Glorious carrying containers, coal and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MV Magia carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Laganda, MV Trade Will, MV Majestic Sky, MV Magia, MV Million Bell, MT Glorious and MT Ensemble currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds, soyabean seeds, coal, phosphoric acid, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV San Felix, MV Medi Chiba, MV Sakzaya Miracle, MV Diyaa-B, MV Klima, MT Sea Speed, MT Golan Kelvin, MT Lion-M, MT New Century, MT Glorious and MT Grand Ace-9 carrying containers, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, clinker, LPG, LNG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Hugo Schulte, CV San Felix, CV Prosper, MV Klima and MT Golan Kelvin carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Energy Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were four ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV Express Black Sea, CV Xiaman and CV Prosper carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Narmada and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely MV Salumus carrying steel coil is due to arrive on Sunday. There are two ships namely MV Fortune Era and MT Quetta carrying animal feeds and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Monday.
