I have read your editorial 'Widening trade deficit' carried by the newspaper recently. This issue is not new. It is being raised from time to time. The government has taken certain steps to contain it but as your editorial mentioned it is too late and not enough. This is an excellent example of our lack of planning/exercise. Imports are rising while exports are not enough.
However, through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to know the output of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) from the concerned authorities. What role they are playing in increasing exports of the country? EPZs was an excellent idea but its fate is not different from those of other government entities, including Pakistan Steel Mills.
