Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani Friday told Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to brief the House on Tuesday about the controversy created by his predecessor that national security of the country is facing serious threat and no one except five people know about the level of threat.
Rabbani had earlier asked the Interior Minister to brief the House about the issue on Thursday but he could not make it to the House due to his busy schedule as he had gone to Balochistan with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
The absence of the Interior Minister without intimating the House earned the ire of the Chairman Senate who adjourned the House on Thursday after he was told the interior minister had gone to Balochistan along with the Prime Minister.
But when Ahsan turned up in the House on Friday, the Chair further delayed the briefing without giving any reason and directed the minister to come prepared on Tuesday to shed light on the issue raised by his predecessor Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
Chaudhry Nisar had said that the national security of the country is facing serious threats both internally and externally, and only few people, including him, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former Army Chief General Raheel Sharif (retd), and two other military officers, know about it. He had also said that the incumbent Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is also unaware of the threat.
Opposition Leader in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan had demanded the government to brief the House about the threat faced by the country as it involved national security of the country which cannot be taken lightly.
