Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 189,528 tonnes of cargo comprising 163,772 tonnes of import cargo and 25,756 tonnes of export cargo including 7,186 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 163,772 tonnes comprised of 64,079 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,069 tonnes of general cargo; 61,418 tonnes of bulk cargo and 35,206 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,756 tonnes comprised of 25,156 tonnes of containerised cargo and 600 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 7,186 containers comprising of 4,528 containers import and 2,658 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,303 of 20's and 1,526 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 86 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 860 of 20's and 84 of 40's loaded containers while 656 of 20's and 487 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely New Ark, KY Venus, Polaris Melody and Han Li carrying containers, oil tanker, soyabean meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. MSC Positano, Clemens Schulte, KY Venus and KSL Danyang carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely MSC Positano, Torm Trinity, FPMC P Alpine, Draft Slayer and Iris Halo carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while three ships namely YM Cypress, Northern Dependant and Da Liang carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Thursday. There were two vessels viz. Havva Ana and Gulf Glow-II carrying chemical due to arrive on Wednesday while eight vessels viz. Seaspan Grouse, MOL Explorer, Pretty World, Navigs Excell, Everrich-1, Saratov, FF Wish and BBC Maple Lotta carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

As many as 3,514 containers comprising of 1,759 containers import and 1,755 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MT Al Bahiya carrying LNG sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Denver carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Denver, CV MSC Albany, CV Al Rawadah, MV YM Miranda, MV Al Bahiya, MV Berlin, MT Chemroad Haya, MT Gas Chem Adriatic and MT Lahore currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV Maersk Surabaya, MV Argent Iris, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT UASC Sound, MT Brizo, MT CH Zephyr and MT Bunga Angsana carrying containers, chemical, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Surabaya, MV Draft Slayer and MV Argent Iris carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were five ships namely CV Maersk Innoshima, CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV TG Poseidon, MV Draft Slayer and MT Umm Bab carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV Maipo and CV MSC Alice carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
